This means you will need to hire a notary public (lawyer) who is legally recognized by the Costa Rican government to submit your documentation for a civil union. If you need a notary public, I can recommend one; however, I am unable to perform the ceremony without a lawyer present. I am primarily available to officiate weddings within a four‑hour distance from San José, though I have also conducted ceremonies in other parts of the country.
